During its Chennai tour to promote innovation and Intellectual Property Rights awareness, Turnip Innovations reached an important milestone by signing a Memorandum of Understanding with S.A. College of Arts & Science on 23 Feb, 2026. The event was held at the SACAS Preview Theatre and brought together students, faculty members, and academic leaders. The programme combined a mentorship session on Intellectual Property Rights with the official signing of the MoU. The Principal Dr. Malathi Selvakkumar, Director Dr. V. Sayi Sathyavathi, and faculty members of the college were present, showing strong support for the collaboration between industry and academia.
The highlight of the event was a mentorship session delivered by Dr. Rahul Kapoor, founder and director of Turnip Innovations and an expert in patent analytics and consultancy. He spoke about the importance of protecting ideas through trademarks and intellectual property rights. Using simple real world examples, he explained how businesses protect their brands and innovations. He also shared examples of well known trademark disputes and how intellectual property plays a major role in building brand value. His session helped students understand that strong ideas can become powerful assets when they are protected properly.
The programme was organised by the Corporate Governance Professionals' Association under the Department of Corporate Secretaryship in collaboration with Turnip Innovations. Dr. S. Ganapathy acknowledged the collaboration and highlighted the importance of partnerships that connect academic learning with industry expertise. He also appreciated the efforts of Dr. M. Suresh for coordinating the event successfully. The MoU represents a shared vision to bring practical knowledge, mentorship, and new opportunities to students.

One of the key objectives of this initiative is to encourage students to recognize the value of their ideas and learn how to protect them. Intellectual property knowledge is becoming a critical skill in fields such as entrepreneurship, technology, research, branding, and corporate governance. By introducing students to IPR education, the partnership aims to inspire them to transform their creative ideas into protected and scalable innovations. The interactive discussion at the end of the session also motivated students to explore certified programmes in intellectual property as a potential career pathway.
For Turnip Innovations, the collaboration with S.A. College of Arts & Science is part of a larger mission to build awareness about innovation, intellectual property, and entrepreneurship across educational institutions in India. Through its outreach programmes and academic partnerships, Turnip aims to nurture a culture where students understand the importance of protecting and commercializing ideas. By guiding young minds on patents, trademarks, and brand value, Turnip hopes to contribute to a future where Indian innovators confidently compete on a global stage.
Initiatives like this MoU reflect a shared vision of preparing the next generation for a knowledge driven economy. By bringing industry expertise directly into academic spaces, students gain insights that cannot always be learned from textbooks alone. The collaboration between Turnip Innovations and S.A. College of Arts & Science stands as an example of how partnerships between industry and education can create meaningful impact. In the long run, such efforts will help build a stronger ecosystem of innovators, entrepreneurs.
