Deep Tech Summit at IMI Kolkata Auditorium

The Deep Tech Entrepreneurship Summit hosted by Turnip Innovations in partnership with Qualcomm at IMI Kolkata turned into one of the most talked about technology events in Kolkata this year. Held at the IMI Kolkata Auditorium on 8 May 2026, the summit brought together more than 225 students, faculty members, startup founders, and industry professionals across Kolkata and West Bengal. The event reflected the growing excitement around deep tech innovation and showed how Kolkata is becoming an important part of India’s startup and entrepreneurship journey.
The summit featured inspiring keynote sessions and engaging panel discussions led by global and national industry leaders. Ram Krishnan, Senior Director of Qualcomm shared valuable insights on the future of deep technology, innovation, and global startup ecosystems. Sandipan Chattopadhyay, CEO of Xelpmoc spoke about the opportunities and challenges in building technology driven companies in India. Dr. Rahul Kapoor, Founder of Turnip Innovations highlighted the need for stronger collaboration between academia and industry to build the next generation of entrepreneurs. Dr. Sachin Modgil, Professor of IMI Kolkata added academic perspectives on innovation and business transformation in the deep tech era.

One of the major highlights of the event was the showcase of IMI Kolkata’s incubation centre, where attendees explored startup infrastructure, incubation support, and entrepreneurship opportunities under the guidance of Mr. Avijit Das. Students and young innovators interacted directly with industry experts and gained a deeper understanding of how India’s startup ecosystem is evolving rapidly with the support of technology, research, and strategic partnerships.
