Turnip Year in Review 2025

Turnip Year in Review 2025

By Dr. Rahul Kapoor ยท Founder and Director of Turnip Innovations

At the onset, I want to wish you a very happy 2026!

This is Part 2 of my year in review post. Part 1 covers my predictions on AI and Education for 2026. You can read it here www.turnip.co.in/newsletter/2025/ai-education-2026.html

Here are the top 10 developments from 2025:

1. Turnip's Entrepreneurship Course now AICTE approved

One of the biggest macroeconomic trends across the world is entrepreneurship. There has been a general rise in gig economy participation, freelancing, micro-entrepreneurship and outcome based contractual roles in organisations.

Higher education institutes need to impart fundamental entrepreneurship skills to train students for the future.

In early 2025, I visited the AICTE headquarters in Delhi to sign an MoU for Turnip's 16-Day Entrepreneurship Awareness Program. This course is now suitable for any MOOC certification, skill development activity, short term training program, or similar supplementary learning in schools, colleges and universities.

MOU signed with AICTE

This course covers entrepreneurship concepts like a real startup journey. From entrepreneurial mindset, ideation, market research, MVP development to sales, go-to-market, fundraising, company formation and product-market fit.

2. Turnip deepens collaboration with Qualcomm

We have been working with Qualcomm to promote intellectual property rights awareness and education for over 2 years. But in 2025, we widened the scope of the association to online/offline events at colleges and universities, L2Pro India platform adoption, content creation and distribution.

Turnip with Qualcomm's Team

Turnip has helped the L2Pro India platform become one of the most successful global initiatives of Qualcomm. It now has more than 20,000 scholars who have upskilled in Intellectual Property Rights!

There are several new initiatives planned to boost the deep tech startup ecosystem in India jointly by Turnip and Qualcomm.

If you are an academic institution, inventor or ecosystem enabler, check out the L2Pro India IPR e-learning platform for free certification on several topics related to intellectual property rights.

Please contact Turnip to learn more about how your institution can benefit from Qualcomm initiatives.

3. Turnip at IMC 2025

Turnip was present at India Mobile Congress 2025 - a truly massive conference on innovation attended by over 100,000 delegates globally.

There was a panel discussion on IP Commercialisation in India. A key insight from the event was this: for India to boost IP commercialization, the path runs via startups.

It is very difficult to commercialise nascent technologies that are not ready for industrial application. That is why it is challenging to license University research directly to the industry.

Institutes will need to have functional incubation ecosystems where technologies are matured via spinoffs rather than direct tech transfer.

Startup founders have the right mix of technical acumen and customer insight. Let them lead the way in maturing technologies for production use.

4. AI-powered Invention Disclosure Form Application

We launched an AI-powered Invention Disclosure Form application to help inventors systematically store their inventions and get a patent application ready.

It is open to all inventors to try out. Upon submission, inventors get an option to download the invention disclosure form to send to a patent agent. Inventors also get an AI review for Patent Application Readiness.

IDF Dashboard User Interface

The application can act as an invention repository where admins can view all submitted inventions in one place.

Try the application at idf.ipgram.in

5. IP and Innovation skill development for organisations

IPGRAM Learn - An organisational micro-credential portal for innovation, intellectual property rights and entrepreneurship learning. The platform provides easy and secure access to all Turnip courses via organisational email. It is suitable for corporates as well as academic institutions.

Ipgram learn user Interface

The reason to create this platform was to make organisational users "think" about innovation and IP in their daily workflows. Innovation is a key "skill" of the 21st century that will differentiate more productive companies / employees from less productive ones.

6. Turnip Marketing Internship Program Launched

My belief that higher education learning should be more oriented towards internships and apprenticeships led me to create a Marketing Internship Program.

In 2025, I created a comprehensive 30-day program on Marketing for Innovators, Startups and SMEs.

It is suitable for all students, innovators, startups and professionals. The program has 15 learning modules and 15 real assignments. I share Turnip's mission & vision, daily job of marketers, customer service philosophies and much more.

I urge academic institutions to consider adopting the program as supplementary learning / internship certification in marketing for students. The program is free to register.

7. AI-powered Quizzes on Turnip Course Modules

We have added dynamically generated AI quizzes on every course module in our MOOC certificate courses.

Each course module carries a link where the user can generate a quiz based on that specific learning module. The quiz can be retaken, new questions can be generated and the feedback can be sent via email. This allows scholars to immediately test out their understanding of specific topics.

ai.turnipcourses.com is an API platform that creates quizzes, and in the future, users can also create specific case studies based on individual course modules. We plan to open this platform to academic institutions to freely generate quizzes/case studies on their own learning materials.

8. Official collaborations with colleges across India

I was invited to Andhra University for their 100th Year celebration. It is incredible that there are such institutions in India that are over 100 years old. I gave a hands-on lecture of patent search for all research scholars and faculty.

We signed an official MoU with Muthayammal Engineering College in Rasipuram, Tamil Nadu.

I got to see KIIT Technology Business Incubator in Bhubaneswar, one of India's oldest and the most successful incubators. Prof. Mrutyunjay Suar hosted us and we got to see state-of-the-art infrastructure of KIIT and KISS.

9. Deep Tech Entrepreneurship Course

I have created a course in association with Qualcomm on Deep Tech Entrepreneurship.

It is due to be launched in early 2026.

But if you are a discerning reader, and write to me at [email protected], I can send you a link to exclusively preview it!

The course will be completely free of charge. The goal is to inspire academia and startups to pursue deep tech ventures.

It is a compact course that lasts 90 minutes. There are 11 videos + 2 interviews with eminent deep tech personalities. There is a quiz based certification jointly by Turnip and Qualcomm (no-cost!).

10. Turnip Innovation Festival 2026

We have opened registrations for the 6th Edition of Turnip Innovation Festival, scheduled to be held on Sat, 24th January, 2026.

The livestream event is sponsored by Qualcomm and the L2Pro India IPR e-learning platform.

The event theme is: Intellectual Property and Deep Tech Innovation

You can gain valuable insights and real collaboration opportunities with deep tech founders, investors and ecosystem enablers.

The program is completely free of cost and all verified attendees can avail a joint participation certificate from Turnip and Qualcomm.

Suitable for all students, faculty, innovators and professionals.

What's next?

At the time of writing, in 2025, Turnip served 9368 unique scholars. Each scholar signed up for an average 1.5 courses taking the total registration count to 13818. In addition, we helped the L2Pro India IPR e-learning platform cross 20,000 learners (10,000 is 2025 alone).

In 2026, we want to meaningfully increase these numbers.

Content strategy

We plan to orient all old and new Turnip courses towards startup and venture development. For example, even Patent and IP courses will have business innovation implications rather than strict legalese. This will make our courses more outcome oriented and aligned to our vision. We want Turnip courses to directly impact technology innovation and venture development.

Final words

Innovation is not a "program". It cannot be a course or event you attend. It requires perceptiveness, execution, and above all else, routinely staying out of comfort zones. You cannot innovate just by looking at a screen. You have to get out there and play.

Quote of the Week

Albert Einstein: "Learning is experience. Everything else is just information."
